What was the world's largest sand island?

Sometime during the last ice age, while the world's critters were getting cold, the winds started blowing over Australia.

As the winds blew over New South Wales they picked up sand and dropped it off the coast of Queensland and that's how Fraser Island was born.

Today Fraser Island is about 125 kilometers long, covers 184,000 hectares, boasts over 100 lakes, is the home to dunes reaching 240 meters in height and is officially the world's largest sand island.
