Q: What do you get when you mix 660 pounds of flour,
348 pounds of water, 1/2 pound of yeast, 53 pounds of malt and 12 1/2 pounds of
salt, boil it for 30 minutes and then bake for just under ten hours?
A: The world's largest
bagel.
And when your as passionate about bagels as
Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. is that's what you do at the New York State Fair in
Syracuse, New York on August 27, 2004.
The Bruegger's bagel when baked was a tasty 868
pounds, 6 feet in diameter and nearly 20 inches thick.
NOTE: We're still
trying to figure out exactly how much the hole in the middle of the bagel weighed.
