SERVING OF ROAST PORK
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's largest serving of roast pork?
In order to beat the world record for the largest
serving of roast pork, you’d have to hold an event specifically to break the
last record. And that’s just what the restaurant Fundacion Produce Yucatan did
when they called in 11 cooks, 20 ovens, and nearly 3,000 pounds of roast pork to
feed almost 10,000 people!
The dish served in Yucatan was actually a local
delicacy known as cochinita pibil, which is simply roast pork with lots of
spices. While the spices and pork were all weighed in as part of the final
count, the tortillas that were served with it were not.
The event was not only a smashing success in the
way that the restaurant set a new record, but those who attended the event also
ate it up. The doors to the event opened at 9:00am and closed at 2:00pm when
they ran out of cochinita pibil. That’s more than 10 kilograms of roasted pork
being served every minute!
Seeing as how the past record for the largest
serving of roast pork was only 500 pounds, it’s easy to see how this new record
obliterated the last. The cooking of the pork was overseen by chefs Pedro
Cabrera Quijano and Juan Pacheco.
