WORLD'S LARGEST EEL
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What is the world's largest eel?
You might think that when it comes to something like
catching the world’s biggest eel, that’s something that’s a personal challenge
and something that one spends years trying to do. But in fact, the world’s
largest eel isn’t only an extremely impressive and massive size, it was also
caught completely by accident.
It was a crew of fishermen aboard a steamer that
reeled in the world’s largest eel, which weighed 34 pounds, 5 feet and 3 inches.
The total circumference of the creature which looks like a giant worm was 15
inches. How long the eel had been alive for was unknown. But it is known that
when eels reach about 9 pounds, they’re usually about 90 years old, and that
eels usually live for up to 100 years.
The world’s largest, and possibly oldest, eel, was
caught in a net by the fisherman and he wasn’t as active as other eels normally
are, as they tend to thrash about in the netting. That may have been a good
thing for the fishermen. They may not have been able to get the big eel onboard
and go down in history as catching the world’s biggest eel.
