The national park of North East Greenland was
established in 1974 and expanded in 1988.
The Northeast Greenland National Park is the world's largest national park, in
fact it's so large you could fit France and Great Britain in the park and have
room left over.
The park is full of fjords, mountains and glaciers
and is home to, among other animals, musk oxes, polar bears, walrus, arctic fox,
collared lemming, arctic hare, barnacle goose, common eider, snowy owl, and 40
or so permanent human residents.
The Northeast Greenland National Park covers 972,000
square kilometers or 375,000 square miles, accounting for over 1/3 of all of
