WORLD'S LAST BEETLE
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's last Volkswagen Beetle?
OK, they're still making the Volkswagen Beetle, the new version
that is, but we wanted to find the last old style Beetle and found it we did.
Although the new Beetle has been produced for many
years, the Volkswagen plant in Mexico still produced the old Beetle, being the only plant to do so.
After 70 years of production on July 10 2003 the
plant stopped producing the regular old version Beetle which could be had for
68,000 pesos or $6,500.00 USD, but this was not the last Beetle.
The plant then went on to produce 3,000 'Ultima
Edicion' old style Beetles, the last of which left the plant on July 30 2003
bearing number 21,529,464.
The 'Ultima Edicion' Beetles sold for 84,000 Mexican
pesos or $8,000.00 USD although number 21,529,464 was not available for
sale as it went to a museum in Wolfsburg, Germany.
