THE WORLD'S LONGEST PLAY
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

What was the world's longest play?

In August and September 1979 various venues in the UK gave host to the world's longest play.

The Warp, created by Neil Oram and directed by Ken Campbell had a reported running time of 22 hours.

The Warp is a combination of 10 shorter plays about an English mystic and his journey through life.

The 10 plays were titled:

  • The Storms Howling Through Tiflis

  • Living On Orion

  • The Rainbow Con

  • Eye To Eye

  • What's Got Into Them?

  • The Key In The Shredded Cloak

  • The Halva Question

  • The Backlash

  • The Metallic Onslaught

  • Pure White Light

Russell Denton, starring as Phil Masters was on stage for all but 5 minutes of the play.

We also managed to find the shortest play: Samuel Becket's Breath.

Using recorded sounds and light, but no actors, Breath tells the story in a mere 35 seconds of life from birth to death.
