What was the world's longest kite ever flown?

Called 'The Cracken' and designed by Michel Trouillet of France, on November 18 1990 it became the world's longest kite ever flown when Michel Trouillet and helpers managed to get it airborne in Nīmes France.

The kite weighs in at 233 ponds and measures just over a kilometers in length (1034.45 meters). This translates to 3,394 feet for those not too familiar with the metric system.
