THE WORLD'S LONGEST SKI JUMP
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

What was the world's longest ski jump?

Ski jumping dates back to the 1860s when a bunch of guys strapped pieces of lumber onto their feet, slid down a hill as fast as they could, then flew through the air as far as they could.

The first recognized competition was held in Husebybakken, Oslo in 1879 with Olaf Haugann of Norway setting the first world record for the longest ski jump at 20 meters.

The current record holder is Bjørn Einar Romøren, also from Norway, with a jump of 239 meters set in Planica, Slovenia on March 20 2005.
