THE WORLD'S LONGEST TREE SIT
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

How long was the world's longest tree sit?

On October 5 1997 a bunch of activists climbed a giant redwood just outside of Stafford, California.

When they reached 180 feet they mounted a platform.

Why? They were members of Earth First and they were there to stop the harvesting of the majestic redwoods by the Maxxam Corporation.

On December 10 1997 a 24 year old, soon to be known as Julia "Butterfly" Hill, climbed the tree, soon to be named Luna.

Julia "Butterfly" Hill spent the rest of the year up the tree. She also spent all of 1998 and the majority of 1999 in the tree.

When she finally climbed down Julia Hill had set the record for the world's longest tree sit after spending 728 days aloft.
