The world's longest gold chain is no
more as it was sold off in pieces to about 9,000 people at the Dubai Shopping
Festival (DSF 99) in March 1999.
When it was whole, the chain, sponsored by jeweler
AngloGold , measured a glittering 2.5 miles or 4.1 kilometers, weighed 200
kilograms and was worth over $2,000,000.00 USD.
3.12 kilometers of the chain were pre-booked and the
final kilometer was sold to tourists during the festival in Dubai, United
Arab Emirates.
