A tall, four-sided shaft of stone, usually tapered and monolithic,
that rises to a pointed pyramidal top.
The world's longest obelisk can be found in La Porte, Texas where it has stood
since it's dedication on April 21, 1939.
The San Jacinto Monument commemorates the site of the
Battle of San Jacinto fought on April 21, 1836.
The obelisk stands 570 feet or 173.7 meters high and is
topped with a 220 ton commemorative star.
