On February 21,1993 Sergei Bubka of the
Ukraine was in Donetsk, Ukraine.
Sergei grabbed a pole that was roughly 18 feet long and
started running down a runway. He then planted his pole and as it flexed it
sprung him upwards and he managed to clear the bar at the top. His only worry
now was not missing the mat on the way down, which he did not do.
When all was said and done Sergei Bubka had set a new record for the world's
longest, or highest, polevault, clearing a
height of 6.15 meters.
