What was the world's longest Tour de France?

The Tour de France is a long, long race, covering roughly 3,500 kilometers, but there was a time when it was longer.

In the 1920's it was not uncommon for the Tour de France to run well over 5,000 kilometers with the longest Tour de France taking place in 1926 with a total distance of 5745 kilometers.

The race was won by Belgium's  Lucien Buysse with a time of 238 hours 44 minutes and 25 seconds.
