The 2008 Olympic torch relay which
began on March 24, 2008 in Olympia, Greece and ended in Beijing, China on August
8, 2008 was the longest Olympic torch relay ever.
The relay covered an Olympic 137,000 kilometers or
85,000 miles during it's 129 day journey.
One of the more unlikely stops for the Olympic torch
was the summit of Mount Everest, the torch reached the summit at 9:18 a.m. on
May 8, 2008.
