THE WORLD'S LONGEST TIME
WAITING ON A HOSPITAL GURNEY

THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

What is the longest time spent waiting on a hospital gurney?

It would be difficult to find anybody who was perfectly happy with the health care systems in their country but Tony Collins from the United Kingdom may have more reason to complain than any of us.

After contracting a virus Tony visited the Princess Margaret Hospital in Swindon, United Kingdom and was taken in to be seen on 3pm on Saturday, February 24, 2001. However, Collins was then left on a gurney in the hallway outside of the washrooms for 3 days before being given another bed in the hospital. Tony spent a total of 77 hours and 30 minutes on his gurney before being found a room. He said afterwards that he had absolutely no privacy, got a bad back from the experience, and could only drink when the nurses brought him something because there wasn’t even room to rest a glass! Still, upon Tony’s release from the hospital, he came back with a gift of a microwave oven and thanked the nurses who had taken care of him.

While the Guinness Book of World Records was researching Tony’s claim of his stay on the hospital gurney, Tony became sick again as he was a diabetic and had to return back to a hospital where he was placed on another gurney and had to wait for a total of 60 hours! Although he was probably not to have broken his first record, we bet no one got a gift that time!
