Chocolay Downs was donated to Northern Michigan University, and they renamed the golf course to NMU Golf Course. On top of that they redesigned the 6th hole, cutting it by more than half to a mere 440 yards.

The new record holder for the world's longest golf hole is Satsuki Golf Club in Sano, Japan with their 7th hole, a par 7, covering a foot aching 964 yards.
