IN AN NHL GAME

STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the most shots on goal in an NHL game?
On April 11, 2007 the Vancouver
Canucks faced the Dallas Stars in the playoffs. The first game of the series
went into the 4th overtime before Henrik Sedin gave the Canucks the win. In the
process the Dallas Stars peppered Vancouver's goalkeeper, Roberto Luongo, with
76 shots, he saved 72 of them, the most shots on goal in an NHL playoff game
ever.
On March 4, 1941
the Chicago Blackhawks met the Boston Bruins. The Bruins plastered Chicago's
goalie, Sam LoPresti, with 83 shots of which Sam stopped 80. Even though Boston
still lost the game, they do hold the record for the most shots in a single NHL
game.
On December 26,
1926 the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Americans met in a good old classic
shootout. The Pittsburgh Pirates had 68 shots on Jake Forbes, he saved 67 of
them, and the New York Americans tested Roy "Shrimp" Worters with 73 shots, he
saved 70.
The two teams
racked up a record setting 141 shots in a 3–1 New York win, a record that still
stands today.
Since 1955
the record for the most shots on goal in an All-Star game stands at 102 with the
East recording 56 shots and the West managing 46 shots during the 1994 All-Star
game in New York.
In the
same game the East, with their 56 shots, set the record for the most shots in an
All-Star game by a single team.
On March 21, 1991 the Boston Bruins entertained the
Quebec Nordiques and Ray Bourque of the Bruins entertained Nordiques' goalie,
Ron Tugnutt, with 19 shots, the most by a single player in a single NHL game.
On January 27,1955 Gordie Howe and the Detroit Red
wings met the New York Rangers. The Rangers managed 18 shots in the game, but
Gordie How unofficially had 19 shots which unofficially ties Ray Bourque's
record and is also the first and only time a single player has outshot the
opposing team.
