What was the most points by a team in an NHL season?
This is a record that the 1976–77
Montreal Canadiens hold.
They played a total of 80 games, winning 60 of them, tying another 12 and
only losing 8 games, for a total of 132 points.
In comparison, the 1974–75 Washington Capitals hold the
record for the fewest points with 21, winning just 8 games, tying 5, and losing
and impressive 67 games.
The Canadiens also won the Stanley Cup that year when
they defeated the Boston Bruins in overtime on May 14, 1977.
