Who has the most shutouts in a NHL career?

Terry Sawchuck started his goalie career with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1949 - 590 season, recording just 1 shutout that year.

His last season, 1969 - 70 was spent with the New York Rangers, again recording just 1 shutout that year.

But in between he recorded another 101 shutouts for a grand total of 103 shutouts in his NHL career.

Martin Brodeur's career started during the 1991 - 92 season when he played just 4 games with the New Jersey Devils without recording a single shutout.

Broduer spent his entire career in New Jersey and on December 03, 2009 he tied Sawchuck's record of 103 shutouts with a 3-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

Just a few weeks later, on December 21, 2009 Brodeur would get his 104th career shutout with a 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, give him sole possession of the record for the most career shutouts in the NHL.
