Marduk -
Mesopotamian Mythology
Marduk was the son of Ea and
Dumkina. He is known as the “king of the Igigi, he had four
eyes, four ears, and emits fire from his mouth every time he spoke.
He is
known throughout Mesopotamian mythology as the god that slew Tiamat.
Not only did he achieve to win the battle over Tiamat but also he used
half of her body to create the roof of the sky, the Tigris and
Euphrates Rivers from her eyes, and mountains from her udders.
Marduk
destroyed all the weapons of Tiamat’s army and placed images
of them at the gates to the underworld. He is known for placing his
temple at Esharra and his seat in Babylon. All of the gods considered
him a king. He used blood and bones together to create man for them to
do the world of the gods as is seen in Atrahasis. He divided the
Anunnaki and put 300 of them to guard the sky and 600 to dwell in
heaven and earth.

Shazu, Zisi, Suhrim, Suhgurim, Zahrim, Zahgurim, Enbilulu, Epadun,
Gugal, Hegal, Sirsir, Malah, Gil, Gilima, Agilima, Zulum, Mummu,
Zulum-ummu, Gizh- numun-ab, Lugal-ab-dubur, Pagal-guena, Lugal-Durmah,
Aranuna, Dumu-duku, Lugal-duku, Lugal-shuanna, Iruga, Irqingu, Kinma,
Kinma, E-sizkur, Addu, Asharu, Neberu, and Enkukur.
Marduk
was known as a firm but just judge that when he became angered was
invincible.
