Thor - Norse & Germanic Mythology

Thor is known in Norse Mythology and Germanic mythology as the God of Thunder. He was pictured as a god with a beard and red hair. He was the oldest son of Frigg and Odin. It is believed he was one of the most loved gods in Norse Mythology.

He may have been a god, however, he did not think long before reacting which seemed to always have him trouble. He loved racing across the skies of Midgard in his giant goat drawn chariot. He was loved be many of the men since he graced them with prosperous crops. As his lightening flashed across the skies, it was believed he was ripening the yield of all of their crops.

Thor, of course, was known for his mighty hammer (Miolnir the Mullicrusher); however, he also possessed a belt that would increase his strength. He had one other item that may have been his favorite, which was a pair of iron gauntlets.

Thor had a mansion on Asgard, which was called Thruthvanger, the Paddocks of Power. This is where his Lightening was held. In his mansion, there were 540 rooms, which he shared with his wife, Sif. Sif was known to be a very beautiful woman with hair created from pure gold that drifted down across her shoulders.

When Thor was hungry, he could as much as an entire ox and three barrels of mead for only one meal.
