but due to the Second Sino-Japanese War they were then awarded to St. Moritz,
but were withdrawn again due to controversies between the Swiss organization
team and IOC. They were finally awarded to Garmisch & Partenkirchen, Germany,
only to be cancelled by WWII.
The 1944 winter games were to be held in Cortina
d'Ampezzo, Italy.
