BARTHOLOMEW ROBERTS
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
Who was Bartholomew Roberts?
The Great Pirate Roberts born Bartholomew Roberts was a
pirate during the 18th century. He mainly sailed along the coasts of North and
South America. He had a notorious temperament, which even had the guard ships
stationed in the West Indies to stay clear. Many would sail as far away as
possible to be far away from him as he sailed by.
He was just what the ladies envisioned – tall,
dark, and handsome. He was very brave however, his bravery often led to
wickedness instead of grateful deeds. He was a sight to see in his crimson
waistcoat, breeches, a red feather in his hat and was never seen without a
diamond cross hanging around with neck on a golden chain. He was known for
wearing a silk sling that carried two pairs of pistols.
One such story about Great Pirate Roberts is when
he sailed into Trepassey in Newfoundland in a sloop of ten guns with sixty men.
The 22 ships that were anchored in the harbor saw the site and ran to shore
without blinking an eye.
The black flag of Great Pirate Roberts that flew
above his ship proclaimed the hatred he had for the people of Barbados and
Martinique. On the flag, he held a flaming sword in one hand, a dagger in the
other, with his feet resting on two human skulls. One of the skulls had the
initials A.M.H., for A Marinican’s Head, and under the other, A.B.H., for A
Barbadian Head.
Great Pirate Roberts was killed at sea off the
coast of Africa.
