Who was the second Vice President of the United States?

Thomas Jefferson was a fascinating figure in history. He is mostly known for serving as the third President of the United States but before this, he also served as the Vice President of the United States and before even that he served in the Cabinet.

While he was a Cabinet member, he had heated arguments with John Adams and Alexander Hamilton. The conflict between them was so great that Jefferson felt that he had to resign from Cabinet and establish the Democrat-republican party. This caused tension between Jefferson and Adams to increase even further.

Then in 1796 Jefferson ran for the position of President but lost to John Adams, which automatically placed Jefferson as his Vice President. During the entire time that they were both in office, they only met in person once and that was on a street. After that, the two did not meet again or even speak to each other the entire time they were in office together.
