What was the second Star Wars movie?

George Lucas knew what he was doing when he began releasing the series of Star Wars movies. He kept every aspect of every movie so intriguing that small details kept the audience talking for years to come. One of those small details is what can be considered the second Star Wars movie. Just like everything else that comes with these epics, nothing is simple.

When asking the question of what can be called the second Star Wars movie, it depends on which trilogy you are referring to. The original trilogy actually included Episode IV – Episode VI. Each of these had their own original title and the second was Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. It was released in 1980.

Episode II: Attack of the Clones is the second movie chronologically in the series but it was released later than the first trilogy. This movie was released in 2002 and the entire trilogy explained the history behind the first three movies, which viewers had watched two decades before.
