WORLD'S SECOND YANKEE STADIUN
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's second Yankee Stadium?
It came as a shock when it was
first announced that the original Yankee Stadium would be torn down and a new
one constructed right across the street. Many were worried that changing venues,
even when they are so close to each other, will take away much of the charm and
the character that Yankee Stadium is notorious for.
However, being that the old stadium was originally
constructed in 1923 the original structure had simply become too old and
worn-down to be run practically anymore.
Groundbreaking ceremonies for the
New Yankee Stadium were held on August 16, 2006 and construction is expected to
be completed in early 2009. The first game scheduled in the New Yankee Stadium
is to be held on April 16, 2009 in a game with the Yankees against the Cleveland
Indians and George Steinbrenner, who has become famous as the owner of the New
York Yankees, promises to still bring all of the beloved features of the old
stadium but with bigger and better seats and technology, among other things.
Some of the charm it will hold is that the exterior will actually have a
perimeter around it that looks exactly like the old Yankee Stadium did. It will
only be once visitors step inside and see a beautiful, modern ballpark that they
will know that they are indeed in a new and improved building.
But that’s not the only Sloppy Second that this
stadium holds. It is also the second most expensive stadium to ever be built,
with the first being the new Wembley Stadium in London. The New Yankee Stadium
is expected to cost approximately 1.6 US dollars, 600 times more than the
original Yankee Stadium cost to build.
