What was the world's second Titanic movie?
Although there have been many
movies made about the Titanic, some under this name while some carrying
different names, the second Titanic movie was released in 1953 and its name was
Titanic. Like the 1997 movie by the same name, which is more popular with
today’s audiences, the 1953 film was also about two lovers. These lovers
however, were estranged and separated after marriage and spent their time
onboard fighting over the custody of their children. The son of the couple,
Norman, and the father and husband, Richard, both perish during the sinking
while the mother, Julia and their daughter, Annette, are placed into a lifeboat.
The film was awarded with many award nominations,
including the Directors Guild of America award and was nominated for two Oscars.
It did not win in its category for Awards for Best Art Direction – Set
Decoration, but it did take home the gold statue for Writing Original
Screenplay. The movie starred Clifton Webb, Barbara Stanwyck, Robert Wagner,
Audrey Dalton, Harper Carter, Thelma Ritter, Brian Aherne, Richard Basehart, and
