WORLD'S SECOND
MICKEY MOUSE CARTOON
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's second Mickey Mouse cartoon?
The 2nd Mickey Mouse cartoon to
ever be made was The Gallopin’ Gaucho.
It was made just after Plane Crazy
and also shortly before Steamboat Willy. Although the producers completed the
silent film on August 7, 1928, those at The Walt Disney Company felt that there
was not enough interest to widely distribute the film at the time. For this
reason, it was only released after both Plane Crazy and Steamboat Willy had been
released.
So although The Gallopin’ Gaucho
was the 2nd Mickey Mouse cartoon to be made, it was the third to be released. It
was released on December 30, 1928, complete with a soundtrack. The film is a
parody of The Gaucho, by Douglas Fairbank and Mickey plays the role of the
Gaucho.
