WORLD'S SECOND
POSTHUMOUS ACADEMY AWARD
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
Who received the world's second posthumous Academy Award?
It’s not every year that we see
the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hands out a posthumous Oscar.
In fact until recently it had only
been done once before so it’s something that’s reserved for only very special
actors that played a very special role.
And so is the case for Heath
Ledger, whose role as the Joker in The Dark Knight earned him an Oscar for Best
Supporting Actor, a little over a year after his death. At the ceremony,
Ledger’s mother, father, and sister accepted the award on his behalf and the
golden statue will go to Heath’s daughter Matilda when she turns 18. Heath
Ledger won his posthumous Oscar at the 81st Academy Awards that were held on
February 22, 2009.
