WORLD'S SMALLEST SMILEY FACES
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What is the world's smallest smiley faces?
You would think that Paul
Rothemund, at the California Institute of Technology, would have more important
things to do than sit around and make smiley faces all day. However, he did not
use a regular pen and paper like you might imagine he used strands of DNA to
create the world’s smallest smiley faces.
While using strands of DNA and folding like is done
with the art of origami he created the worlds smallest smiley faces that
measures a few billionths of a meter across. A nanometer is around 80,000 times
smaller than the width of a human hair. Among his other accomplishments besides
the world’s smallest smiley faces include a miniature map of the United States
and South America, which is smaller than a bacterium.
