There
is an old wives tale that many people believe that says if a candle is lit
during a ceremony of any type and it suddenly goes out, that evil spirits must
be lurking about. Others still believe that if you are lighting a candle during
a ceremony and the candle refuses to stay lit, that the evil spirits are making
their presence known.
This old wives tale has been around as long as
witchcraft has been around and people have been made more aware of evil spirits
and such. While this old wives tale cannot be proved, the likelihood that evil
spirits will keep your candles from staying lit is less likely than a draft
blowing them out!
Bottom line, candles that won’t stay lit simply need to be relit and moved to a
different location. While this cannot be proved, it’s just more plausible that
you’ve got a draft not an evil spirit lurking!
