There are a lot of old wives tales and superstitions associated with weddings and marriage, but many of them have to do with the behavior and mishaps around the wedding day. One of the most famous wedding related old wives tales is the one that says should the groom drop the bride’s wedding band during the ceremony the marriage is doomed. Of course, many grooms have dropped the wedding band out of nervousness and each must wonder if that is a bad omen! Luckily, dropping the wedding band during the ceremony doesn’t really determine that the marriage will fail, although it might predict that the groom gets nervous or may drop or fumble objects!

The best thing a bride and groom can do to avoid dropping the ring, should they be very superstitious, is to avoid thinking about it. Many times we talk ourselves into doing things because we think about it too much! Simply enjoy your wedding and don’t worry about mistakes. If the groom does drop the ring, don’t worry about it! Laugh it off and continue on to celebrate a beautiful marriage.
