There are many old wive’s tales that are associated with death. The three that stick out in my mind from my mother and grandmother are:

If a bird tries to come in your home there will be a death in the family. This does not mean that the bird just peaks at your windowsill and then flies away; she was probably just grabbing a juicy bug for her babies. If a bird repeatedly peaks at the glass window then it is trying to come in and this means that there will be a death in the family.

If a bird flies into your home, not in your place of business, there will be a death in the family. This can be a close relative or even a distant one.

If you hear, a howling dog there will be a death in the family. As the dog howls, count how many times he howls. If you hear three howls, then someone will die in your family in three hours, three days, three weeks, or three months. The same goes for however many times he howls.
