the one that locate John Nealís gold. John Neal lived in Hueysville in Floyd
County in 1881. He had to visit Cincinnati Ohio and before he left he decided to
bury his treasure in a safe location so no one would steal his $7,000 in gold
and silver coins while he gone. He chose a spot in the woods behind his farm and
went to Cincinnati.
He returned home, however, he brought home with him
more than he did or the rest of the town bargained for, the Plague. He died
shortly after his return and so did many of his neighbors. After the epidemic
settled down, his large estate was probated. One servant girl, told the story of
the hidden treasure, however, no one could find the hidden treasure. Many
neighbors knew that John Neal was in the habit of burying money prior to taking
any long trip, so it is believed that the money is still buried in those woods.
Since, many knew that John buried his treasure in
