Sasquatch, Real or Legend?

Many people throughout history have tried to prove the existence of Sasquatch or the common name Bigfoot. People have been seeing this large beast for over 400 years. The name Sasquatch originally comes from the Halkomelem language with the word "Sésquac", which means "wild man".

Sasquatch are said to be between 7 feet tall to 10 feet tall and can weigh between 540 pounds to over 1,000 pounds. They have hair over their entire body not fur as you might think. It can be brown, black or even white, as in the Abominable Snowman.

People have always speculated over the areas in which Sasquatches live and if they really do exist. Many people talk to only their friends or family members about sightings of Sasquatch because of the disbelief from the majority of people that they do in fact exist.

There have been recorded sightings throughout the world as called different names where ever you go, but they all agree that what they see is a large, hairy beast. Some say he has characteristics of a man while others state he is more of a gorilla. The many names associated with these sightings include some that Indians from North America named these creatures, such as Sasquatch-men, Bukwas, Skoocums, Bushman, and Mountain Devil. You may have also heard them called Yeti. An odor of rotten eggs as also been noted by some when they have come in contact with the Sasquatch.

One such recorded sighting was by William Roe in 1955. While he was on the Mica Mountain in the Canadian Rockies he saw a large hairy female creature. She was between 6 and 7 feet tall, had a Negroid shaped head, and large breasts. Then in 1958, more proof of this infamous beast was found by foot prints left in the soft dark earth along the logging roads in Bluff Creek, California. This brought about many newspapers stories circulating the news of an Abominable Snowman and the name “Big Foot” arose from the local lumbermen.

Whether you believe in Sasquatch or not, if you are ever out in a wooded area and begin to smell rotten eggs, look over your shoulder, you may have company.
