What is the Boggy
Creek Monster?
Some may believe this monster
sounds like Bigfoot or Sasquatch, however, since no one knows for sure and it
has been seen since the 1860’s it bears the name of the Boggy Creek Monster or
the Fouke Monster.
The Boggy Creek Monster lives in Miller County
which is southeast of Texarkana, Arkansas. It has called the sparsely populated
forested hills of the Ozarks home for many years. He is said to be seven foot
tall, walks upright like a human, smells like an animal and is totally covered
in hair.
He is more of a nuisance that a threat since he is
loves to dine on chickens, livestock and an occasion dog. However, in the 1860’s
he tormented a couple of families just outside Fouke and they could not quit
talking about this beast that was eating all of their livestock. From this time
forward the legend has grown.
In 1997, the Boggy Creek Monster was seen in the
hills and in 1998 he was seen walking along a dry creek bed around 5 miles south
of Fouke.
There was even a movie produced in 1973 abut the
Legend of the Boggy Creek Monster which help to keep the story alive.
If you wish to try and find the Boggy Creek
Monster, you will be glad to know that he has never hurt a human and he was last
seen close by the junction of the Sulphur and Red Rivers. Good hunting!
