Mirage in Penglai

THE MIRAGE IN PENGLIA
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

The Mirage in Penglai

During the Labor Day weekend many tourists and locals in Penglai could not believe their eyes. Many thought they were in the twilight zone or something mystical was happening.

What everyone saw was a mirage of very high clarity which lasted four hours off the shore of Penglai city in east China’s Shandong Province on the Sunday prior to our labor day.

The mist rose on the shore and created an image of a modern city with high rise buildings, wide city streets, fast moving cars, and crowds of people all over the place. The detail was very visible and had everyone stopping in the tracks to see this unusual image.

Prior to the mirage, it had been raining for two long days which entirely soaked the city. On this Sunday, there were 30,000 tourists that witnessed the same mirage.

Throughout history, many mirages have been recorded in Penglai which is on the tip of Shandong peninsula which has given it the name of the dwelling place of the gods.

Scientist explains the phenomenon as a mirage being formed when there is moisture in the air that becomes warmer than the temperature of the sea water. This makes the moisture refract rays of the sun to create reflections of the landscape in the sky.
