Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy were both great leaders of this country. There also a remarkable amount of similarities between the two. Check out these facts that you won’t find in any schoolbook (well not side-by-side, anyway.)

  • Abraham Lincoln became a member of Congress in 1846.

  • John F. Kennedy became a member of Congress in 1946.

  • Abraham Lincoln became President in 1860.

  • John F. Kennedy became President in 1960.

  • Their last names, Lincoln and Kennedy, each contain seven letters.

  • Lincoln and Kennedy were both especially concerned with civil rights.

  • Both of their wives lost their children when they lived at the White House.

  • Lincoln and Kennedy were both shot in the head on a Friday.

  • The name of Lincoln’s secretary was Kennedy.

  • The name of Kennedy’s secretary was Lincoln.

  • Both were killed by Southerners.

  • Both were replaced in office by Southerners.

  • Each person that replaced them in office was named Johnson.

  • Lincoln’s successor, Andrew Johnson, was born in 1808.
