For Jakarta residents, especially those who often cross the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, of course familiar with the concrete curved bridge that crosses between Jalan Gatot Subroto and Jalan HR Rasuna Said.
The bridge is a crossing for the fast train (Light Rapid Transit / LRT) which will become a new transportation for the citizens of Jakarta and surrounding areas.
At present the phase I LRT cross that has been built includes Cawang-Cibubur, Cawang-Kuningan-Dukuh Atas cross, and Cawang-East Bekasi cross. As of November 1, the work of all tracks reached 67.3% and is targeted to be operational in 2021.
Special, this curved bridge is the longest curved concrete bridge for trains in Indonesia. The record award was symbolically given by MURI founder Jaya Supratna to PT Adhi Karya Tbk President Director Budi Harto, who worked on the project.
The length of the main span of the longspan is 148 meters, while the concrete box girders have a curved radius of 115 meters.
Budi Harto even claims that this bridge is the longest bridge in the world. This achievement drew praise from the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi and the Minister of BUMN who were present at the ceremonial casting of the arch bridge, Monday (11/11/2019).
“We must be proud to be Indonesian,” Luhut said in his remarks.
Luhut’s expression also expressed appreciation for Arvilla Delitriana, the local architect who designed the arch bridge. However, Luhut fully expressed his admiration because the work on the LRT track was full of local content.
Budi Harto explained, initially there were 4 design criteria for the construction of this arch bridge. Three of them are designs from French architects, one is Arvilla’s design namely Concrete box girder balanced cantilever.
From this overpass, there is a view of Jakarta with tall buildings. The current density of vehicles passing on Jl Gatot Subroto, Jl HR Rasuna Said, and on the inner city toll road directly below the bridge can be seen.
Basuki Hadimuljono also rewarded that achievement by giving the Minister of Operational Funds (DOM) to Arvilla. Not wanting to be left behind, Luhut also gave his DOM to Arvilla.
“This is no joke, ladies and gentlemen. His design immediately received two awards from MURI. This might be patented to be used elsewhere,” said Basuki.
